The purpose of the visual of the body, fashion, and personal appearance is considered in defining the female self (Walker 2). The claims presented in this novel develop concepts in comprehending the meaning of female presence. These concepts are duplicity, seduction, beauty, modesty as well as death. Note that femininity in this novel is analyzed in connection to various theories including deploying insights from the psychological, sociological, literary and historical framework. The female protagonists in this novel are depicted as an educator, masculine, strong, intelligent and proud. Here, women are depicted as weak creatures of vanity with very little or no personalities. In the “Everyday Use,” women are portrayed to be independent in their very nature, but in “The Yellow Wall-Paper” they are demonstrated as creatures that entirely depend on men for their sanity as well as their livelihood.
