Document 1

Carl Zimmer is the writer of Oldest Fossils of Homo sapiens Found in Morocco, Altering History of Our Species. The article, which was published in The New York Times, mainly focuses on the fossils that were discovered by the scientist who after studies and research, stated that the fossils explain that the origin of mankind was from evolution that took place in multiple places in Africa, (Zimmer). According to the article, it was reported that the oldest fossil was dated about 175,000 years but the recent discovery and studies were done in Morocco’s fossil show that it is dated about 300,000 years. The discoveries of early Homo sapiens suggest that mankind evolved from species that were from either Ethiopia or the neighboring countries in East Africa.

In this essay, the focus will be based on critiquing Zimmer’s article and identify the motive as well as the ideas used in his article. This shows that most of the humankind could have evolved from somewhere in Africa. Other studies done on the fossils show that the fossil anatomically belonged to Homo sapiens despite the ages of the teeth and its jaws. The technique used by the writer in his article is informative since he concentrates on delivering scientific information and supporting them with arguments and information gathered from interviews and journals. I have heard about the subject of evolution before in class and through science discussion forums on the television. The discussion was hosted on 9th April 2018 in Discovery Science.
