Document 1

The film blames the high demand for food as the main reason for the manufacturing of the junk food items sold in restaurants and supermarkets (Flowers and Swan 234). Directed by Robert Kenner and narrated by Eric Schlosser, the documentary advocates for the return of the traditional sustainable agrarian production of food which was conceptualized during the Jefferson era. Progression of the Film The film is divided into three parts with each segment providing detailed information regarding a particular subject. The documentary starts by explaining the shocking facts about the contemporary American supermarkets that have no seasons and selling boneless meat. The film concentrates on the production of meat especially cows, chicken, and pigs. The fast food market in the United States is controlled by 4 companies thus the entire industry is influenced by what is done by the big 4.

No matter what one eats, it is produced from the same system. Cows are reared in hostile environments where sanitation standards are so poor, but the advertisements of the beef products show a completely different picture; cows reared in the open field. This implies that the Americas fast food industry is hell-bent and only concentrating on profits instead of health benefits. Cows are subjected to feed on corns instead of natural grass. Changes The film should cover more of organic farming instead of highlighting very few cases. The damage caused by high-tech farming should be accompanied by organic solutions at every scene. Change of Mind Yes, the film has persuaded me to avoid the junk food. The information about e. coli virus has explained how the factory processed burger can be so harmful.
