Pollution as a Global Issue
According to the author, the world health organization global air pollution databases that were released in Geneva indicates that 14 out of the 15 cities in India are the most polluted cities in the world. Section 2 The relevance of this text to the issue of pollution as a global issue is that it recognizes that environmental pollution does not affect just individual of a given country but the entire planet of earth. Although the issue of air pollution might not affect all people at the same time and level it might bring up complex problems that will affect the next generation. Therefore, the issue of pollution specifically in India is of great concern to every person since it is estimated by the world health organization that seven million premature deaths in the world every year have largely been linked to air pollution (Times of India, 2018).
Section 3 I agree with the author that the issue of environmental pollution specifically air pollution is a matter of grave concern that should be addressed soonest. Ranking the countries in the world in order of how they are polluted will not yield any tangible results, but the government of those respective countries should come up with strategies and policies aimed at reducing the rate of pollution. Therefore, I believe that air pollution is an invisible killer that can be solved if major causes such as inefficient use of energy by industries, households, and core fired power plants, and transport and agricultural sectors are regulated (Ramanathan & Feng, 2009). In addition, other sources of air pollution in different parts of the world such as deforestation and waste burning should also be addressed.
