The soil is contaminated when it reacts with industrial waste, leaded gasoline, fertilizers, petrochemicals, coal residues, paint wastes, sewage sludge, mine tailings, pesticides, and atmosphere disposition (Su, 2014). Accumulation of heavy metals such as Beryllium (Be) & Barium (Ba) can make the soil toxic thus making it unfavorable for plants, animals, and microorganisms. Food crops can also uptake dangerous heavy metals and chemicals that can be harmful to human health. Numerous countries have come up with legislations and public policies to protect and address soil pollution. Landfill disposal is one the soil remediation methods which is being applied all over the world. Achievements Substantive clean-up activities have been conducted in different countries. Environmental scientists have been on the fore-front of conducting field measurements concerning concentration of chemicals in the soil.
