Significance of Eros Sexuality And Or Romance in V for Vendetta

Unlike the government and politicians who uses lies to cover truth, V uses lies to tell people the truth. The novel describes V as someone who is very charismatic, and skilled in both the art of deception and combat. It is combination of these skills that enables V to attain his revolutionary goal at the end of the story. In this narrative, the authors utilize a combination of different aspects in describing the characters and their interactions. Some commonly utilized elements in this novel include eros, sexuality, and romance. This transformation occurs because of the oppressive behavior that she gets from the novels male characters. In the end, Evey ability to gain strength and the control over her life changes the notion that women are inferior to men.

Therefore, in this case, sexuality has been utilized to inform and educate the reader that both male and female are crucial in the society and no gender is inferior to the other, thus reducing gender bias in the society. Undoubtedly, from reading the book, it is clear that the women in this story are hypersexualized to an incongruous level. From the book, most women appear naked and have sex. In this chapter, a group of male officials brutally harass Evey. The officials threaten her that they will kill her if she fails to do anything that they want (Moore and Lloyd 11). The book clearly describes Evey’s terrified face because of the danger that she is in. This terrified look shows how powerless she is between the male officials.

Moreover, the terrified and helpless look makes Evey not a person, but just a hyper-sexualized object that men can utilize the way they want. From the book, as Evey approaches any man on the street, the text box indicates that her decisions as well as her transactions are insignificant. They actually affect no one but herself (Moore and Lloyd 10). From reading this text, the reader is left with no doubt that Evey is nothing in the context of this society. In conclusion, the combination of eros, sexuality, and romance has played a major role in helping the reader to understand the interaction, gender, and the roles played by each gender in the novel. In V for Vendetta, the authors have used eros, sexuality and romance in showing the role played by each gender and how these roles affected the interaction between the two genders.
