In the film “Searching for a Sugar Man,” two fans from South Africa, Stephen “Sugar” Segerman and Craig Bartholomew Strydom set out to establish whether the rumors are true or what exactly happened to Rodriguez. In this essay, I will give a detailed analysis of this film as produced by the filmmaker Malik Bendjelloul. Rodriguez’s documentary is made from recollections and folklore told about him in interviews. The first part of Searching for Sugar Manis hauntingly a sad scene but in the second part, the story slowly turns from tragedy to triumph.
