There existed major rivalry between the Union and the US government (Hurewitz, 20). This essay will discuss the reasons as to why the US government felt threatened by the Soviet Unions after the World War II. To begin with, during the Cold War, the US government was worried about the spreading of communism into its territories. The Soviets led the communist countries while the US let the Democrat countries during the war. The US government opposed the Soviet’s intention of spreading communism to its territories (Hurewitz, 18). In addition, the Soviet Union also thought that the US was planning to overrule the world. This prolonged the conflicts and rivalry between the two parties (Hurewitz, 12). The US government initiated preparedness to avoid being overruled by the Soviet Union.

Thirdly, the Soviet Union wanted the capitalism to be destroyed. The United States opposed this call as the country emphasized on capitalism. The US was worried that could the nuclear warfare occur, the missiles could have destroyed more of its parts. It was as well worried that the missiles could cause more deaths of its citizens. In conclusion, various factors caused the US government to feel threatened by the Soviet Union. Several of them included the threat of the spread of communism, the opposition of capitalism by the nation, the thought that the union could overrule the world and the threat of the nuclear warfare.
