The documents hold the theme that all individual citizens are entitled to certain human rights. These include the statements that recognize the universality of these rights since all men are equal in creation thus the rights should never be alienated. The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass has the tone as well as the feel of some form of personal revolution.
