In most organizations, human resource is the major backbone for which overall objectives of the firm is realized. Hence there welfare and productivity is very crucial for any firm (Little & Rubin. In trying to find some of the factors that affect the employee performance, the notion of music and sound effects comes on board. In this analysis we take keen concern of the sound effects on employee performance with keen attention how it affects the meeting of the overall objectives of the firm. Problem Statement Most organizations have usually tried to utilize their employees to the best potential. The major aim of the study is to investigate if there is any effect that background might have on the notion of productivity in the employees.

In this context, the productivity of the employee without any music playing on background forms the dependent variable. The productivity with random sound and those with constant sound form the independent variable. The effect of sound would therefore be investigated in relation to the productivity while holding the no sound effect as control dependent variable (Bain, 2017). When collecting data on productivity, the performance was rated to a tune of between 1-10 with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest. 00 Median 3. 00 Mode 6. 00 Mode 5. 00 Mode 2. 00 Standard Deviation 2. 47 Skew-ness 0. 44 Range 7. 00 Range 5. 00 Range 6. 00 Minimum 2. 00 Count 8. 00 Largest(1) 9. 00 Largest(1) 7. 00 Largest(1) 7. 00 Smallest(1) 2. 2 respectively. Going by the mean of the three groups, it is evident that those workers that perform highly are those that have background music with constant sound while those with no sound have the lowest productivity followed by those with random sound.

The three datasets are minimally skewed hence it is evident that they assume normal distribution thus they are deemed to be fit for further analysis. T-Test for the Mean of the Samples In order to ascertain the validity of the results shown on the descriptive statistics, we investigate the data using the t-test in order to ascertain whether there is a significant difference in the data presented. The performing of the T-test is also to help accept or reject the null hypothesis postulated. 08 t Critical two-tail 2. 36 From the above results, the degree of freedom is 7 and the correlation coefficient stands at 0. The T statistic for the dataset stands at 2. 08 and the P-value stands at 0. The initial null hypothesis was H0: There is no statistical difference between the background music and employee performance/ productivity Conclusion and Recommendation From the analysis brought forward on the T-test, the P-value at 95% confidence interval stands at 0.
