Close-ended questions provide the respondents with a number of choices from which they choose the most appropriate answer in relation to their personal situation ("Structure of Open-Ended and Closed Survey Items," 2007). An example of these close-ended questions include how many times over the last two weeks did you have more than five alcoholic drinks in a sitting? This survey was based on secondary data that employed data from the American College Health Association’s National College Health Assessment. The study was conducted during the 2011 Fall whereby a sample size of 29939 students was sampled from 44 campuses across the United States. The study involved all the campuses whereby each campus used random sampling techniques to determine its participants which were followed by classroom-based paper form or web-based surveying.

After the surveys were completed and all the data was assembled from the different institutions, the American College Health Association created aggregate data sets, reference group reports and executive summaries for all the available data. 5 % of the population enrolled as full-time students in different universities throughout the United States. Among the sampled population, the females represented 61. The sample characteristics of the study were initially calculated using the basic descriptive statistics and Predictive Analytics Software followed by an analysis of variance (ANOVA) to the mean differences in the variable of the sample. The sampling was conducted across 44 campuses across the United States with students selected randomly, therefore, this sample can be generalized to the entire population of U. S. ch6 Unequal Probability Sampling.
