Name Institution Course Date Analysis of Descartes’s arguments on the Mind and Body being distinct Descartes view the connection between the mind and the body and argues that there are very different. Through the thesis referred to as “Mind-body dualism” Descartes concludes that based on their characteristics the body and mind are different. Based on his argument it is clear that the mind has a thinking capacity and it is a thing that is not extended (Mehta 202). On the other hand the body is extended and not having any capacity to think. This is what proves to Descartes that the two are distinct. This paper seeks to describe and analyze the argument of Descartes about his belief that the mind and body are separated. The analysis is done through the review of his dualism thesis concerning because it can be separated into different parts which is different from the mind therefore the conclusion that the mind is indivisible. Besides he understands that God created the two body and mind not to be separated since he understood that their existence is not separable but insists that this can happen if God wills. Therefore for people to better understand the nature of mind and the body more explanations are required. Work Cited Forstmann Matthias Pascal Burgmer and Thomas Mussweiler.
