In the town of New Orleans, during the 19th century, a group of slaves ranging from 200 to 500, (Rasmussen 1-75) set out to revolt against the brutal punitive slavery that there were subjected to. The author documents the compartmentalization, of slave life from the rest of American history. The American history through written to include the reigns of slavery has somewhat omitted some of the significant occurrences that would have tainted the supremacy of the save masters at the time. The group of slaves armed themselves with crude weapons as well as guns and dressed in military wear as they marched to New Orleans. The group of slaves in the American uprising were inspired by Haitians stories were determined to participate in what they believed would be their fight to liberation.
