What is a social problem and how can we use the sociological perspective to study social problems

Social problems differ in different communities. Again, individual experience personal problems which are contributed to the society. In American many people are unemployed, and this is a society problem causing own’s problem. Some people may say that the lack of employment is a person’s problem. But, in sociological perceptive, unemployment is a public problem. The second stage is to turn the problem into public knowledge by writing about it in the newspaper or discussing it in the media. With the help of the media, people can give their opinions about the issue and even suggest solutions. In this stage, the debate will spark some people will oppose while others will support that the problem is a social problem. Notably, this is the longest and most significant stage.

At this stage, there are several interruptions. If it does not, it becomes waste. The second is if they allow it to reach the public eye then they must show interest in the problem and provide causes of the problem. The final is if they have enough power they will decide how the problem will be resolved. A social problem is established as resolved if it goes through the social problem lifecycle and a solution to the problem has been implemented. For example, if a society social problem is drug abuse, then the society should come up with a solution by finding where the drugs come from and ceasing their supply. For example, if a person observes that people are hugging as a greeting, they will also start hugging as a greeting.
