Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Issues Related to Eating Disorders Introduction Eating disorders refer to a number of serious illnesses that are described by irregular or inconsistent eating behaviours and severe concern or distress about personal body weight and shape. They are severe illnesses that result in disturbances to an individual's eating behaviours and general wellbeing. Obsessions with body weight, food, and shape describe a form of an eating disorder. Eating disorders have a series of consequences on a person's health and are mostly associated with kids, teens and young women. More specifically, this paper aims at analyzing observations made on eating disorders. I conducted a research at Cotton State Classics in Alabama Florida, where most teenagers but breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

I observed the joint on 11 November 2018 at 12. 30p. m for a period of 45 minutes. I sat at a table at the corner where I could see the customers as they buy their meals, eat it. She seemed upset because she could not control her eating habits. She was 17 years and had just completed high school. In a few words, she says that she started to suffer from the disorder at 15 due to disorderly eating habits influenced by her friends. Over the years, people suffering from eating disorders learn how to cope with the condition; however, most of them feel embarrassed to eat in public or in the presence of many individuals. From my perspective, a significant number of people with eating disorders are embarrassed about their condition while many have varying perceptions regarding their body shapes.

Facts • Eating disorders are caused by a variety of factors including biological, psychological, environmental, family and childhood traumas, cultural or peer pressure as well as stress or sudden change in an individual's life. • People suffering from eating disorders are likely to experience long-term effects both emotionally and physically • Severe cases of an eating disorder may lead to heart diseases and osteoporosis. • It was easy to identify individuals whom I speculated to suffer from one or two eating disorders as they behaved and acted differently from the other customers. • Out of curiosity, I asked about what led to the disorder and her feelings and thoughts towards her behaviour. • In a few words, she says that she started to suffer from the disorder at 15 due to disorderly eating habits influenced by her friends.
