Effects of Deforestation

A lot is being done to ensure that the levels of deforestation are reduced but it is still a very serious issue since people do not take it very seriously. Being an issue with a lot of weight, emphasis should be put to ensure that the depletion of the forests is not witnessed further. Background Information Currently, timberland covers only about 27% of the of the earth (Skole & Tucker, 2014). Woodlands are however lost each and every time and this means that the world is going to lack woodlands in the near future. The effects of this may be very dangerous as far as the survival of human beings is concerned. Woodlands act as water catchment areas. When they are done away with, it becomes a problem.
