Socioeconomic impact on the ELL student

In regards to culture, these students bring theirs into the classroom and to some extent they are either affected positively or negatively. However, the main focus of this paper is on socioeconomics as major influencers to academic success. The alignment of socioeconomic factors to educations comes a long way. It starts right when the students are getting incorporated or assimilated to the systems. Brown, S & Bean, F (2006) defines assimilation rather incorporation as the process by which certain characteristics of the members of immigrants and host societies resemble each other. Race and class affect educator’s judgment and ability to the extent that they presume that such students inferior abilities lack social skills and cultural capital. Judging and treating students based on their class and race should not be the case for educators.
