Lighting As far as lighting is concerned, the cinematographer was able to embrace the use of ‘book lighting’ technique. This technique came about as a result of its success in by Janusz Kaminski in the movie ‘The Lost World. ’ This technique involves the mounting of lights, diffusion, and bounce on giant cranes in order to ensure that they can be swung easily from one location to the next. This was essential in the film as it allowed for the creation of soft mobile lighting to ensure that there was a balance regarding the light illuminated from each angle (Douglas 70). Setting The film is based on a 1977 setting at an age when criminal profiling and criminal psychology were still on their early stages in the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
