Document 1

The Supreme Court, through the First Amendment, has placed many guidelines to this right. For instance, the content-based guideline. This guideline is put in place to ensure that the content of speech passes strict scrutiny. Restrictions applied to specific viewpoints often face the scrutiny of the highest level and can be overturned, unless the restrictions fall into the special exceptions of the court (Van Geel, 90). Again, manner, place, and time guideline. According to Van Geel (79), without those rules, the society would be chaotic. Works Cited Sabel, Charles F. and Joshua Cohen.
