The one who walk away from Omelas analysis

Le Guin uses a happy tone to paint the life of the people living in Omelas. She vividly draws the readers to imagine bright summer days by the beach with soothing music and children playing and riding horses. Along in her narrative, however, the tone changes to a mysterious one. She reveals that there is a caged child, forced to live in suffering in its filth. This child’s suffering is the trade-off to the happiness of the majority in Omelas. The lack of guilt on the part of those who chose to stay is baffling, while the guilt of those who left raises the readers’ faith in humanity. Ultimately, the word acceptance illustrates the resignation the people in Omelas have.
