The ideals of direct leadership for good military leaders include personal attributes and core competencies. The core attributes include good character, intelligence, and presence, while competencies center on how an army leader can control subordinates. It includes leading, developing, and achieving results. Meanwhile, strategic and organizational leaders are military veterans that don't go to wars. Instead, they make crucial decisions and contribute to national safety. As a result, the character-forming curve is important for military leaders. Presence: Sustained character forms the basis of a military leader's presence. Presence is not just about being available. It is also about the leader's image, what he stands for and how his subordinates see him. Presence is formed through words, actions, behaviors, level of professionalism, appearance, and demeanor.

It includes the day-to-day operation of situations and subordinates. Not having a good competency can turn good and tactical operations into dangerous situations. A military leader must adapt his team to difficult terrain and weather changes technological demands, use weapons optimally, sniff and tackle prospective dangers, lift teams from the psychological drain, manage chaos, effective implementation of tactics, and turn challenging situations into opportunities. Core Competencies include three facets: Leading, developing, and achieving. Leading: Leading focuses on how an army leader controls the team, who the followers are, and what authority the leader has on them. They also build good teams to create trust, patriotism, and proficiency in soldiers. They can recognize talents and specialists easily among subordinates. Strategic Leadership These are senior army civilians that make informed decisions for the military.
