These ideals, as a result, have over the last 3 centuries attracted millions of people from across the globe to the country as they search for better opportunities making the U. S the most culturally diverse group in the world. Although the country’s open immigration policies have highly contributed to its miraculous growth, there are powerful forces that are pushing for amendment of the country’s immigration policies whose outcome is likely to limit the number of people entering the country in search of better opportunities. This paper delves into the “American Dream” which by personal definition is a belief that everyone has an opportunity to improve their lives in America as long as they are willing to work hard. The paper also includes the exact definition of the myth which is adopted from an online article that discusses the issues arising from President Trump’s immigration policy amendments.

This is the myth of the American dream whereby anyone can be able to raise their social class in America as long as they are willing to work hard (Tolan and Sanchez). Despite changes in various immigration policies over the last few years and pending amendments to these policies, the myth of the American dream is still possible in 2017. Currently, most people argue that the RAISE Act will bar most foreigners from moving into the country in search of the American dream. However, the RAISE Act only seeks to block the unskilled individuals, with poor mastery of the English language, in favor of the highly-skilled (Tolan and Sanchez). When it comes to accessing higher education, gainful employment or even opening a business anywhere in the world, a person needs to be skilled in a particular thing (if seeking employment) whereby they will exchange it in return for money which, when done on larger scale results to stupendous wealth for the individual.
