Document 1

One of the motivations behind participating in a DNA kit is for family planning purposes. A DNA test is essential because it assists the parents to gain awareness about the sort of genes they might pass on to their offspring. The second reason is that some of these tests reveal an individual’s unique traits embedded in his or her genetic code that put them at risk of specific medical conditions. In this regard, this knowledge presents people with an opportunity to seek medical advice and live healthy lifestyles to prevent detrimental health issues. Thirdly, the kits are readily available and accessible (Stein, 2018). Another issue related to home kits is that individuals may easily misinterpret the results. For example, the results may read that a person has a decreased risk for a specific health condition.
