Several reasons have led to police brutality and ‘protective of their own’ culture, and elaboration about the exists in various articles and books. Body i. Factors influencing police behavior: a. Sociological reasons: the police officers may act differently depending on the social dynamics of the surrounding. For instance, the social class of the offender and the accuser, age, race as well as the reactions from the neighborhood may influence police behavior. c. Sometimes the police may murder a suspect who does not resist arrest. iii. Training and demands of the police service have significant input on the police behavior. a. The United States should enforce strict compliance with laws by the police officers to curb these misconducts. Police culture The police behavior in the United States is in question due to what is so-called police brutality, favoritism, and solidarity among the officers.

The blue wall code of silence has led to many misconducts and unjust that the officers commit to going unpunished. In most cases, they witness their colleagues commit crimes and errors, but when asked about it in the court, they deny witnessing the same. They get these values not only in their training experience but also from their social backgrounds. The issue of police brutality has, the recent past, been the debate heading over the United States. The journal by Holmes (n. p. ) gives a clear discussion of the various instances of police brutality. First, the police officers many demonstrate cruelty by physically hurting the suspects even when they do not resist arrest or behave violently. The police are also liable for encounters that they might have initiated and ended up using excessive force.

Inasmuch as occurrences of brutality and assault may continue to emerge, the police culture of conservatism and solidarity prevents justice from prevailing. The police department has influential and proficient lawyers that protect them even when they are out of line. The complainant, who in most cases are weak and vulnerable end up losing in court, while the brutal officers resume duties. The police training experience has a significant impact on the police culture and conduct. First, selection, training, and recruitment of officers have been altered to allow all the interested parties to join and practice, regardless of their race or gender. The department now as opposed to the past allows even the African-American men and women to join the force. Secondly, the force also requires that the tea leaders be reliable and accountable for their team members’ actions.
