His depictions in the novel elaborate the life of an ordinary immigrant who suffers the wrath of an intensified political unrest. It is from his depictions that his message still remains relevant to date as it is likely to allow modern victims of political discontent to come to terms with the need of developing hopeful thoughts about a promising future more so in a foreign country. In addition, Wiesel’s memoir serves as a delineation of where democracy and freedom rest. The relevance of Wiesel’s Work The concept of democracy may prove to be a rather unaccustomed for most people who have been brought up in countries where its exercise is impractical. This is mostly the case owing to the fact that such individuals often tend to undergo absurd experiences characterized by extreme political environment hence making it difficult for them to enjoy their humanitarian freedom and rights.

We had forgotten everything-death, fatigue, and our natural needs. Stronger than cold or hunger, stronger than the shots and the e desire to die, condemned and wandering, mere numbers, we were the only men on earth. ” (Wiesel 83). It is by reading inspiring messages like this that has enabled me to build my courage as well as enabled me to use my past as a learning curve rather than a shameful experience. Over time, I have been able to share stories about my experiences in my former country of residence through write-ups. Although we had been separated with my father for a considerable amount of time, I still recall when we got to reunite at Texas airport when I was 16 years of age.
