The fundamental objective of this paper is to discuss the main arguments in Plato's critique of art. In his perspective, art is an expression of images which ideally are a deviation from the truth. According to him, these images are capable of causing significant and adverse alterations in personality development. Plato paints art as an unnecessary evil within societies that is responsible for causing delusion in persons causing a change in the personality development in the character. In his interpretation, Plato expresses the desire to eradicate artists from the society as this category of individuals has the potential to inculcate debilitating behavioral changes in individuals.
