Criminal Profiling Essay

It is more of a relationship between psychology and law enforcement. Criminal profiling practitioners do not always agree with the term and methodology (Hicks, 2006). They, however, try to analyze pieces of evidence gathered at the scene of the crime. Statements recorded by witnesses are also knitted to achieve a pattern that can be used to identify an offender who may be otherwise unknown. Criminal profiling is vital during apprehension, investigation and even prosecution stages of criminal proceedings. Profiling also helps us to link up how the perpetrator is likely to respond to an arrest (Rogers, 2003). At the prosecution stage, criminal profilers help to knit the relationship between crimes by forensic evidence. It is also vital to connect a serial killer to a series of crime scenes.
