Personal Nursing Philosophy

The first pace in recognizing an individual nursing value is defining nursing. Nursing as described by the Association of American Nurses is the “abilities, promotion, and protection, prevention of disease and harm, alleviation of affliction through the analysis and treatment of soul response, and promotion in the concern of individuals, populations, communities and families” (Huston, 2013)). Considering what nursing indicates to the private nurse is a deeply individual journey. Describing nursing is comparatively simple; exemplifies nursing is complex. Construction upon the meaning of nursing, the nurse discovers her personal philosophy during recognition and modification of her individual belief system, beliefs, career goals, practices, the practices of other nurses, and nurture theories.
