There were a lot of civil wars and nurses were being sent to attend to the sick and wounded soldiers. Nightingale began her nursing career in the mid-1800s at the Crimean War tending to the injured soldiers in the battlefield (Zborowsky, 2014). Deaths were common due to poor hygiene. Nightingale asked for support from the British government and to improve hygiene at the battlefield and the nearby hospitals. As a result, death from infections drastically went down (ibid). Their responsibility is to seek nursing care. They have to go to the hospitals or call for an ambulance to come take them to the hospital. Health is defined as the harmony and unity within the body, soul, and mind; harmony between self and the others, and between self and nature; and the openness to increased possibility (Masters, 2015).Illness is not necessarily a disease; it is rather a personal harmony inside the spheres of a person.
