Museum Building

It’s an art museum established in 1914 but the main building its self was constructed in 1929 using the Roman style of architectural design (Malcolm and Brenda Richardson). In constructing this landmark building, John Russell pope was the main architect charged with the responsibility of designing the building. This museum serves a collection center for globally recognized art that has a rich history being developed many centuries ago. Diverse artistic styles are well represented inside the museum in the sense that early byzantine art as well as the current contemporary arts are found in this museum. On the other hand, It's appropriate to realize that this museum was initially known as the municipal art museum and it currently houses over 90,000 artworks with Henri Matisse’s artwork being included.
