The push factors comprise of the persecutions, the political oppressions and the economic hardships. There are others who migrate to America due to factors within it that pull them to it and this include factors such as freedom in religion, freedom of thought and opportunities for economic growth. These factors can be categorized into three broad factors namely the economic opportunities, search for political and religious asylum and reunification with the families or relatives (Hatch 1). Economic Opportunities Economic opportunities in the United States provide a good cause for the immigration of foreigners with the American dream concept being the root cause. The concept has inspired many foreign nationals and thus they want to have the American dream themselves. Also, religious oppressions experienced in the countries such as German and Russia led many of the religious rebels who felt they could face persecution to move to United States in search for religious freedom (Hirschman 1206-1233).

These include the Huguenots who are found in the Hudson River valley South Carolina and Catholics in Maryland. Reunion with Family Members In the mid of nineteen sixty five, America introduced the Hart –Celler act which aimed at ensuring no race would be prohibited from immigrating into America thus allowing family members to reunify with immigration families (National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, and Committee on Population 345). Overall, this caused many children and spouses of those who had migrated to America to join them.
