” Their relationship with Harry porter and their personal undertakings make them valuable characters in the novels. Professor Snape and Lockhart are learned and proud individuals, whose characters have an impact in Harry’s life Accomplished Scholars Professor Snape is a decorated expert in making portions. He is tasked with teaching Harry’s class on how to make portions, although he is very mean. The professor does not waste time to prove his brilliance to Harry’s class and even asks challenging questions (Brown 11). In the first lesson, for instance, he asks Harry a question whose answer he knew Harry had no idea. Lockhart even writes several books, such as “Magic Me,” and quizzes his learners on his biography (Rowling). In addition, he invents a shampoo, which he credited for giving him his lustrous hair.

Among other accolades include a book, “Gladding and Ghouls. ” Each time, Lockhart had a new book and matching recognition. His biggest success, however, was teaching second-year students on ‘Defense Against Dark Arts. In the past, Harry’s father saved Snape, and he never forgave him for the deed. Although he was in real danger, Snape felt terrible for being rescued and passed on this feeling to Harry. Snape’s arrogance also manifests itself in how he relates to other workers. The seclusions and secrecy connote the belief that he is superior to other members. Snape’s vanity is essential in the text because it makes him suspicious. Again, he follows Harry in solving the mystery of the ‘Chambers of Secrets,’ to add to his accomplishments.

Lockhart’s constant inventions are meaningful to the book because through his relentless pursuit of knowledge and fame make him invent items like the ‘Philosopher’s Stone,’ which are vital especially in the first book. Admittedly, the character is witty and offers comic relief throughout the book. It is also from the history of Lockhart that the audience can understand the origin of some present challenges. The life of Voldermont, for example. In turn, this belief heightens the suspense that is carried on throughout the chapters. In the battle against Voldermont, Harry suspects that Snape is the mastermind behind the theft of the stone. However, Snape proves his trustworthiness. Equally, Lockhart defends Harry in several occasions. For one, he lectures Harry for their touch-and-go landing at the school.
