A number of factors contributed significantly to the growth and expansion of the empires. Among the main factor were geographical factors and leadership. This paper will dwell on how the geographical factors and leadership styles contributed to the growth and expansion of the Roman and Greek empires. The Roman empire occupied the vast area around the Mediterranean Sea in Africa, Asia, and Europe. One of the main factors that contributed to the growth of the empire was the fact that the soil in the area was very fertile as a result of heavy volcanic ash ("Ways in Which Geography Impacted Rome's Development", 2015). The Greek Empire emerged existed between the 13th -9th century BC in southern Europe along the Mediterranean Sea.

The empire was made up of the mainland and over a hundred small islands. The rough coastline and the many islands in the sea made it possible for people to transport goods and enhanced communication ("Geography, Environment, and Archaeology in Greece", 2018). Easy transport enabled the Greece to engage in trade activities with their neighbors. As a result of the trade, the empire became wealthy. The land terrain of these areas was generally mountainous and hilly. In such a land topography, farming was extremely difficult. Therefore, people living in these areas were mainly sheep and goat farmers. From these animals, the residents were able to get meat, milk, cheese, and wool. Some of the mountain areas contained variable minerals such as silver that was used to make currencies.

According to the Romans, everyone had the right to marry and the marriage ceremony was generally a private one. Before the marriage ceremony, the marrying couple were at liberty to hold or not to hold an engagement party. If they chose to have the party, the groom could give the bride an engagement ring. If after the engagement part either the bride or the groom broke their contract, they would have to pay a fine. The dowry was paid after the marriage but the price was agreed during the engagement party. These plays were not only entertaining but also informative. In their culture, the Greek believed in the power of utilizing talents. One of the major leaders of the Roman Empire was Nero Claudius Drusus.
