Proposal Italian Canadians and their economic life

Instructions: A proposal is a written plan of work for a research project. In your proposal, you will present the subject of your IS project, and provide some background information to introduce your topic. In the final stages of your work, your Proposal will be incorporated into your Final Paper (it will become your paper's Introduction). To write your proposal, you must: 1. In the opening paragraph, present the subject of your research. You should identify your ethnic group, and clearly state your research topic. This is the specific aspect or issue of your group that you will be examining in your IS paper. (The topic is: group =Italian Canadians; topic=economic life) Explain that you will be examining your topic by adopting an interdisciplinary approach. Specifically, that in your IS paper, you will be examining your topic from the perspective of 3 social science disciplines. Mention that these will include Geography, History, and the third disciplinary perspective your have chosen. 2. In the following paragraph, provide some background information (basic facts and figures) on your topic that will lead the reader into the subject. Do some basic research and write about the topic of interest to you. Be sure that the information you provide describes the current state of your ethnic group (the present). This should include : - demographic information about your ethnic group: for example, what is the size of the community (population size)? Where is the community in Canada concentrated (in which provinces, cities)? What percentage of Canada's population do they represent? - try to provide general facts and statistics on your specific topic (your critical focus). For example, if your focus is your group's economic life, provide information about incomes, employment, and educational attainment. 3. Bibliography: You should use at least two scholarly sources to inform your assignment. Below are some examples of sources you can use (you may use others not listed here).
