One the direct result of drug abuse is that victims tend to have impaired judgment and majority find themselves in criminal activities in order to able to raise money to procure drugs, consequently the society find itself in another problem that of increase in criminal activity. I have decided to take drug abuse as my topic of interest because is one of the problem affecting the community where I come from that Illinois. Discussion Factors that contribute to Drug Addiction Research has shown that drug abuse which at one time was thought to as result of moral decay and lack of self-control is more or less a disease like say diabetes. It is important to note that the recent research has linked genetic markers as reason behind some cases of drug abuse and addiction.

Although addiction might have physiological basis, it clear that there a lot of cultural and social factors that can lead to addiction. Research have shown that the view that drug use bring people together has contributed to prevalence of drug abuse. Lifestyle Reasons Many of drug addicts find the practice to be appealing maybe fun to them, as result they create a life that revolves around drug use and substance abuse. Their life will be characterized with a given pattern of doing things, which can easily attract other people to join the in the act. These are major factors that cause one to start abusing drugs, however there are other factors that also contribute to the vice. However, for this paper I want to show these factors have contributed to rise in drug use and substance abuse in Aurora Illinois.
