Keylogger Scam Student’s Name: Institution Affiliation: According to the “Police Foil $420 Million Keylogger Scam” article the police thwarted a possible cybercrime in Britain that they believed would’ve passed down as the biggest ever crime involving computers in the entire British history. The perpetrators of this heinous act had tried to transfer $420 million from a Japanese bank Sumitomo Mitsui located in London. Ian Betteridge the author of the article argues that the thieves were able to access critical account information such as the passwords using keylogger programs that enabled them hack into the bank’s computer systems (Betteridge 2017). Even though it has not been established how the installation of keyloggers took place the police arrested a suspect in relation to the case. Furthermore a specialized police unit; the National Hi-Tech Crimes Unit continues to investigate the crime so Moscaritolo & Moscaritolo 2017). Also in September 2011 a case of a woman whose privacy was violated through the use of a keylogger was heard at the Southern District Court of Indiana. The keyloggers were used to access Rene’s personal accounts and passwords. Later the information was used to discuss issues and matters concerning her (Fishwick 2017). References Betteridge I.
