Consequently, as many customers flock the retail business environment, employees within the retail environment should always ensure that they adhere to the ethical framework. Similarly, in retail business management should strive to implement ethical compliance programs with components that are necessary for to be effective and competitive in the marketplace (Diallo, & Lambey-Checchin, 2017). Therefore, the importance of ethics in a retail setting is essential when engaging in the sales and service activities in the business. As a customer in Texas retail stores, there a number of situations when interacting with the retailers sales staff I realized to be ethically questionable.

In any retail store, there is a set of policies and procedures that guide the behavior of sales personnel. Therefore, in resolving the misunderstanding and unethical sales behavior of the sales agents from Texas store, the company took a myriad of steps in correcting the situation. Firstly, the sales agents involved in the sale were summoned by the management for conduct review. More significantly, the sales made was reviewed after confirming that indeed I paid for more and therefore, I received the discounts originally advertised (Ferrell, et al, 2019). Further, in the spirit of maintaining the high sales standards, and eliminate the negative perceptions, firstly, the Management of Texas stores apologized for the sales mistake. Recently, a survey was done by branding company, Lander associates, with findings that indicated that 77% of consumers believe that ethics is the backbone of organizations and social responsibility (Vadastreanu, Maier, & Maier, 2015).

Therefore, to begin with, the issue of corporate social responsibility is key. Corporate social responsibility encompass areas such as human rights, labor standards within the company and most significantly, environmental conservation and protection. When a company mistreats other human beings such as suppliers, employees, employs children it becomes unethical. Again, another pivotal issue is the green issue and environmental conservation matter in particular. These include honesty and corporate responsibility. Honesty is viewed as the best policy in any kind of undertaking. For example, the value of honest advertising supports business selling strategy as it encourages the building of a relationship with consumers. As such, there is a shared principle of truth, and standards in marketing communications about the company’s products to customers.

Similarly, consumer privacy is enhanced which encourages them to make repeat purchases. Moreover, to keep the reputation of the company, increase the financial performance and reduce costs of operation, the business has to instill adequate policies that implement ethics as a pillar standard. The retailers should appropriately charge prices that are fair of products in their stores.
