Other - Library Research , Other types

Im going to attach the worksheet in pdf form. Its 6 questions in total. You don't need to go to the library. go to the FIU Library website (Links to an external site.) http://library.fiu.edu/ The FIU Library provides access to many on-line sources for finding articles in criminal justice journals. If you are using one of the University's computers, you do not need to log in. However, if you are using your own computer, you will first need to log in using your FIU login credentials. Once you are logged in, find and click “Research Start” Click A-Z Databases & Resources list. Under BROWSE BY SUBJECT, click on CRIMINAL JUSTICE AND LAW and then click CRIMINAL JUSTICE JOURNALS PROQUEST. You have several options on the Criminal Justice Proquest homepage page. You may search the database using a basic search, an advanced search, search tools, or just browse in general. Using Advanced Search will allow you to limit your search to articles that are most relevant, provided you have a keyword, author name, journal title, or article title in mind. One thing you can do from this page is limit your search to a specific range of years, though you can also limit your search to specific languages, methodologies, age ranges, etc. You can also search for multiple terms, which may include a combination of the author’s name, journal title, a keyword in the title or abstract of a specific article, etc. You will need to select “peer reviewed” for only want primary sources. For example, to search for articles by a specific author, type in the author's last name followed by the first name (and middle initial, if you know it) in the first empty search box. In the drop-down box to the right of the search boxes, select AUTHOR(AU). For example, if you type in Bornstein, Brian and choose author, your search will find at least 129 articles that include her name as an author. You can follow a similar procedure to locate articles by subject, title, or keyword. For example, try using the word "eyewitness" as a search term in the document title. When I did this a few weeks ago, the results returned at least 3,064 publications. That is WAY too many to look through! Of course, if you do only peer reviewed article, this drops a lot (down to 1,450). This is still way too many to reasonable sort through. When you get a large number of results from your search, you will usually want to narrow down your search. You can do this by entering different search terms, or you can do this by combining results from searches you have completed. Every time you do a search, the results are saved in your "recent searches." You can combine articles in the search history to narrow down your list of articles to your specifications. Let's say you want a list of all articles authored by Brian Bornstein with the word "eyewitness" in the title. You have already run searches on Brian Bornstein as an author and eyewitness in the title. Click on the Recent Searches link at the top of the page and you will see those previous searches listed. In the Combine Searches box, type “1, 2” and hit enter. Brian Bornstein’s publications regarding eyewitnesses will be shown. When I did this, it came up with only 28 articles including Bornstein as an author and eyewitness as a word in the title. If I look at Bornstein, Eyewitness, and Peer Reviewed, this search drops to 21. Question 1: Using PROQUEST, locate an article authored by Edith Greene on jury decisions involving a legal process called bifurcation. Use “Greene Edith” as an author term and “plaintiff”, “defendant”, or “bifurcation” as title terms. Format correctly, the full APA-style reference* for this article on your assignment answer sheet. Note that the DOI number must be included. STEP 2: Full-Text Databases Slowly but surely, libraries are adding "full text" electronic journals to their resources. Not all criminal justice journals appear in full text electronic form, but many do, including many that you will find in your searches. Though PROQUEST is useful, there are other ways to find full-text online articles. First, if you enter the journal name into the Library Catalog, you may find links to journals where you can find full-text documents. You can also search within specific journals by clicking the Browse tab and selecting the journal title to search within the specific journal. If you know specifically what you are looking for, you can use the search boxes to search for keywords or the author’s name. Question 2: Find the journal in which Ben Jones published his article “The Republican Party, Conservatives, and the future of capital punishment”, and tell me the names of the States in which death penalty issues were on the ballot (hint: the authors talk about in the first few paragraphs of the paper). To get a copy of the full article, click on the link that says Article (PDF). Fill in this information on the answer sheet. Question 3: Format the correct full, APA-style reference* for the article on the assignment sheet. STEP 3 Question 4: Locate one article relevant to YOUR research topic interest: This article must be a primary source, reporting on original, empirical research (I don’t want reviews of the field or books; this MUST BE a peer-reviewed scholarly article). You want to find articles that look interesting to you by entering key words describing your topic (e.g., death penalty, mental illness and criminal behavior, etc.). Using APA format, enter the reference on your answer sheet. Question 5: Use the FIU library find a reference to a book that covers the same topic (or a closely related one) as the article you find in question six. Give me this reference in APA format on your answer sheet* (Hint! This reference is formatted differently than the article. Question 6: If FIU does own the title, give me its call number. If FIU does not own the title, tell me how you would go about getting your hands on the book. Give me your responses on the answer sheet. For question #4 my research topic is on cybercrime. make sure to read every step. This assignment is tricky and my professor is strict. I need an A on this please! I also post another pdf file of APA style reference examples. I need this done in 13 hours.
