Perhaps, Copland’s success in composing film music owes to his lifetime demonstration of fantastic talent, incredible vision, compositional efficiency, noble ideas, as well as his strong commitment to art (Richardson 129). During the time, music was primarily applied as a mechanism to maintain silence among the audience in concert halls. As a result of Copland’s influence, the context of music changed, and composers now applied music in movies for different purposes. Similar to musicals or operas, films integrate music as a means to develop the plot, background music to explicate subject’s emotions or actions, also, to provide background music for audiences’ privy. Significantly, Aaron Copland's music composition for the film The Red Pony (1948-49) greatly contributed to his recognition in the music composition career.
