Suppose we have to find 9 + 40i . Let 9 + 40i = a + bi Let x = 9 and y = (9)2 (40i )2 = 1681 = 41 then a = x+y = 2 9 + 41 = ±4 2 and b = y x = 2 41 ( 9 ) = ±5 2 9 + 40i = ± ( 4 + 5i ) Thanks Mr. Panna Patodia for the beautiful method. This would definitely be appreciated by higher secondary students . Comments views questions articles and solutions to problems are all welcome so please send an email.
