My reflection on the philosophy of Christian education is therefore a reflection of the goals, methods, forms and the meaning of Christian education on the leaner. This reflection focuses on the aims, problems, and nature of Christian education to offer much-needed knowledge in the educational practice. Both sides of the traditional divide in theory and practice are needed while considering the specific issues arising from the Christian education practice and philosophical issues including the nature of knowledge. The role of a Christian educator is to inform the learners and shape their thoughts regarding important issues including the love of God and its importance for nature, humankind and self-development physically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. All these factors have implications on the long-standing philosophical problems in the ethics, metaphysics, epistemology and political philosophy.

Wimberly employs the African traditions and biblical text in drawing an idea for the search of wisdom in an effort to help the African Americans to pursue Christian discipleship. 2 ((Wimberly, Anne & Evelyn, 2011. P. 29) In the African traditions, the knowledge comprises of more than just knowledge but rather the beliefs, insights, attitudes, practices, and behaviors which create and sustain the life of hope and production of an inherent sense of self-worth. The learners can engage in search of the wisdom through looking and engaging in search ways as reading the proverbial sayings, songs, narratives and revered bible stories especially on the lives of exemplary individuals. As a Christian educator to the children, it is important to teach the much needed social values introduced to us by Jesus Christ.

Jesus teaches us that God is love and he created all people equally despite the race, religious background, and social status and so on. The bible condemns all the social forms of discrimination, exploitation and racism. As a Christian educator, this will be my duty to educate the public regarding the love of God for all humans and the need to co-exist and live together. With education, we can be able to do anything including changing the people’s perspectives towards others despite the huge political divide. Hooks’ theory that teaching is sacred, and sharing that information is to impact the intellectual and spiritual growth of the student is very true. 9 (Hooks, 1994, p. 13) Teachers must create opportunities to have the mutual dialogue between themselves and the learners.

We must all accept to be vulnerable when teaching the students to take risks. “Progressive professors working to transform curriculum are most often the individuals willing to take the risks that engaged pedagogy requires and to make their teaching practices a site of resistance. Teaching children regarding God and his importance to our everyday lives requires a strong understanding and discovery of “our deep identity as Godly creatures. "12 (Berryman, 1994, P. 14) several key elements will, therefore, be incorporated in teaching the children about the connection of their everyday life with the Christianity values. These include mind warm-up programs which involve a question-answer time that draws attention and engages the students in the past studies; movement including clapping, standing, stretching and so on are very important factor during the lesson to keep the children focused and participative; the teacher should also focus on teaching the students the importance of collaboration with peers or teamwork in order to achieve success.

Other important skills in Christianity teaching includes giving the students time to reflect, giving clear instructions, encouraging the students to take risks, involving everyone in the class, minimal supervision to build on the student independence, mixing the teaching styles among others. Maria Montessori’s teaching and theories. Montessori observed that children from all walks of nature have an innate curiosity which comes with an intelligent approach to the process of learning. Her gospel of love, care and sympathy forms the basic model for the Christian educational theory and practice all over the world. 14 (Isaacs, 2018, P. 32) From her experience, Montessori learned to teach and experiment rather than just the old teaching traditions. With enough support, the children are able to gain confidence regarding the challenges ahead because the teachers model loving kindness, respect, and a belief in peaceful conflict resolution.

Children are usually very curious and have a lot of interests. The limitation of the student’s activities will help them focus on what they are supposed to be. The teacher should encourage them to actively seek Christian knowledge which is important for their general growth. Moreover, in the Christian education, the students are taught that human beings are prone to mistakes and self-correction and self-assessments are important so that as the student develops they can be able to reflect on their work, and becoming adept at identifying and correcting their errors and learning from them. An educator must, therefore, create a transformative learning process to inform the learners and shape their minds accordingly. The teacher’s openness and awareness creates the much-needed space for the spontaneity, change, invention and democratic exchanges of ideas all of which are unique elements for a classroom.
