Rogers diffusion of innovation theory nursing
Document Type:Coursework
Subject Area:Nursing
rogers describe several characteristics of people in different stages and how they embrace a particular kind of innovation. After several resistances, the theory argues that many people will be able to embrace the theory (Rogers, 2003). Basically, the theorists argue that adoption of an innovation is a process and embracers need to understand the innovative or relevant part of the change so they can embrace it. The fact that people adopt innovations at different pace implies that implementors of any type of change should be able to understand the kind of people they are handling so it can be embraced much faster (Rogers, 2003). In nursing, application of the theory’s concept can help in spreading a particular innovation. Understanding and demonstrating its relevance is a typical way of calming any resistance that may crop out of ignorance.
