The film is working through primeval feelings in form of blue songs, a pulp thriller, a film noir or a horror image. The entire film is shot beautifully, the light forms outstanding mood and supports the story in the best complimentary way. When the truth is finally out on what Amy had done, she is depicted differently and her face is covered in shadow. In every scene in the film, following the story and comparing the lighting choices, it is clear that David Fincher and Jeff Cronenweth achieved the style and supported the emotions using cinematic language. The cinematography in the actions leading to the scene of murder uses the film signature yellow and dark tones, this forms an aesthetic that amounts to the sinister, foreboding quality of the events in the film (McNair and Brian, 2015).

The entire score a combination of calming sounds with noises of staccato electronics. The results of the combination of these sounds are an unnerving, anxiety invoking quality. Reznor worked together with Ross to create the music, the music created was beauteous that it make the horrific, brutal moments in the gone girl film to be more harrowing. Fincher and his team aimed to produce an exceptionally high standard work.
