As an extracurricular activity I worked at the Boys Scouts Organization which notably influenced my values as well as character. This was through the various things learned in the organization including the way to live as a scout by observing the “Do a Good Turn Daily” slogan. Moreover I learned to pay attention to those in need and volunteer for various projects that assisted in improving the local community. Furthermore I gained important leadership skills and knowledge about the value of collaboration as a Senior Patrol Leader and an Eagle Scout. I also participated in different projects with other scouts from diverse backgrounds where I enhanced my interpersonal and communication skills. The experience as a Boy Scout has primarily contributed to the shaping of my character and values by instilling in me a strong in the arduous International Baccalaureate Diploma program was my major uncomfortable moment where various challenges from social life would possibly prevent me from achieving my academic mission. However I struggled through the challenges. In my first year I thought about quitting IB and going back to the regular curriculum due to poor performance. However I decided to try one more year and reevaluate my study habits to correspond with the rigorous IB curriculum to improve my performance. At the end of my sophomore year my performance was average unlike in the previous year. I thought of quitting again but recalled that my aim is to improve and achieve good performance.
