Educational Opportunity in The Other Wes Moore
The author Wes’ mother decided that her children must attend private school at all costs. Although it was hard for her and she had to source for extra jobs and rely highly on childcare support network, she managed to take her children to private schools. The other Wes felt that the streets of Baltimore were unforgiving and he felt that he had lost any sense of belonging. The contrast between the two Wes existed between of their parents' view and ability thus affecting their educational opportunities directly. The author continues to say, “My mother saw Riverdale as a haven, a place where I could escape my neighborhood and open my horizons (Moore, 47). He believed that in life, everyone deserves a fair shot and justice.
