Name Tutor Course Play: Macbeth. Macbeth is a play by William Shakespeare which addresses the thirst for power and how it advances to the extent of self-destruction to those who seek it. The character of Macbeth elicits a mixed reaction of pity and damnation. He is a victim of machinations and schemes of others. First he is a victim and a puppet of the witches and secondly his wife’s ruthlessness and ambition to see him take the crown. When Macbeth hears the prophecy that he will one day become the king of Scotland after being made Cawdor Macbeth is then projected to a path disarray. Everything seems to be in his favor until he writes to his wife on matters concerning the prophecy of the witches. His wife seizes the chance of becoming queen and pushes Macbeth to gain the throne at whatever means possible. What elicits pity is how she believes that it comes from heaven and when it does the depression hurts everything on earth both human and non-human. Although she brings the idea of faith she argues that one experiences only the external and fades with time the scars left is felt from within. A striking character about Emily is her ability to use metaphors. An example is the poem of a taste of liquor never brewed where she mentions being drunk in alcohol none the less she means being drunk in spirit. Emily blends expertise in metaphors with nature with the mention of words such as air and dew which she intends to mean liquor. She paints a vivid imagery to her audience with notations of nature and brings her other obsession with the afterlife when she mentions saints and seraphs. Emily therefore uses nature to connect with God who is manifested everywhere in nature. [...]
