The film was developed after two devastating world wars. To many, it was expected that no more conflict preceded the First World War. However, the world was in awake of more destructive world war twenty years later, as opposed to the initial. The cruelty witnessed during the word war tainted the peaceful nature perception accorded to humankind being around this time. The tone of the film is set by viewing the man with a negative attitude. The boys begin to believe in the existence of a monster lurking on the island. They even misguidedly assume a parachute to be the beast invading. Just after this attach Jack accuses Ralph of being a coward; as a result, this influenced the schoolboys to support Jacks’ claim.

Jack after that declares himself the head of the new tribe. Simon is another central character in the film, he encounters a lethal body covered in flies and believes that this head is speaking; and hence declares it as the Lord of the Flies. If we analyze the plot of Lord of the Flies we see this exact pattern is demonstrated. In his publication of (Leviathan, 2016) Hobbes discusses this pattern in depth. More emphasizes on the same concept is also illustrated through demonstration of aggression and war among this group of schoolboys. The Second World War develops the negative tone of humanity what inspires the sound as exhibited in the movie. In the absence of the constraints of civilization, human families foraged for food and sustenance in small autonomous groups. We see this theory in action in the film Lord of Flies when Ralph and Jack form their own “families” and thus complete this forage for food and basic needs. Rousseau further discussed that humanity, in essence, was peaceful, but problems such as tyranny, war, and conflict only began when a governed society was formed. We see the opposite of this depicted in the film, as just in the absence of a structured government do the schoolboys resort to conflict as a means of survival. Where Rousseau believed peace was natural and war was social, Hobbes believed that life in the state of nature is solitary, weak and filled with conflict.
