The use of Black English has been identified to be popular among individuals residing in the southern part of the United States. This is mostly the case among people in the south of United States as a result of the similarity in phonology and grammar that is somewhat similar to rural dialects of the people in the southern states. Being from the southern side, I have been involved in the use of Black English from a young age. Black English highly defers from proper English both in the manner of pronunciation as well as the interpretation of different words. The following are some of the most common words used Black English; Black English Proper English Flava Flavor Hood Neighborhood Crib House Fitty Fifty Ganja Marijuana To thrive in the academic world, it was essential for me to adapt to the use of proper English to ensure that I would be able to adequately interact with fellow students as well as my tutors.
