Several researchers have shown that the disorder is quite common for medical students compared to other faculty students. This is because medical students get involved in more or high stressful academic environment. Most of them undergo psychological stress, a lot of physical stress as well as having sleepless nights since each of them is required to carry a huge and great responsibility in their future time. In addition to all these, the medical student’s high prevalence of irritable bowel syndrome is triggered by their eating habits and lifestyle as well as a very tight and busy academic environment. Objective The main aim of this study is to review and discuss the latest literature concerning the Irritable bowel disorder (IBS) between most of medical students in medical institutions, and its prevalence, its diagnostic criteria as well as the possible risk factors associated with the disorder in addition to all management and solutions which different scholars and researchers have recommended in the process of attempting to control the disease.

Conclusion According to the research, the prevalence of irritable bowel syndrome was a bit higher among the female medical students more than for male students and for both genders, it was higher for the fifth year students (TAN et al 2013).
