Steps Involved in Decision-Making Process Problem Recognition The problem recognition is the initial phase which a company or a firm considers in the process of making-decision. This step is developed from the misacheivements that a company faces in the process of fulfilling its goals. This step involves both the internal and external work, whereby some information is attained from within the organization for example through self- assessment while other information is external such as books, online, other people, and from other sources. The decision-making process commences from the point whereby the organization or a firm is set to take and action to resolve an acknowledged or a prevailing issue. However, with the situation of the Shell Company, poor planning and oversight affects the company performance, and also the staff relation.

Based on the Shell Company administration and the advice-givers were supposed to take an extra action and put the response of the environmental advisors into consideration concerning the organization, bearing in mind that the company’s waste would devastatingly affect the environment. Furthermore, the Shell Company would have generated methods on how to dispose their wastes from the storage tank, which would help in controlling environmental pollution. Alternative Selection In this fourth phase off making a choice on the alternatives, it involves assessment of probability, acknowledging the alternative and the necessity to understand which option is the best. The organization should first consider all the possible alternative as an ideal solution. All the possible perceptions have to be regarded at in a diverse aspect.

This involves the creation of a plan and implementation. In the process of decision-making, it is critical to evaluate the decision for effectiveness, consider the questions; what was done well? And what can be improved next time? Adapt the plan if necessary or switch to another potential solution. The ending conclusion should be of excellence, and it’s essential that it must be supported by the all or most of the management advisors. The advice-givers of the Shell Company and the administration members partake to come into an agreement that they all have to support and work on the adopted solution measures and try to eliminate the problem by all the required means by the alternative in doing away with the problem.
